How does the BiteQ Smart Utensil work?
Step 1
Pair.
Press the button and hold the utensil flat to activate the sensors. A subtle buzz and steady green light let you know calibration is complete. Open the app to connect once, and BiteQ will automatically reconnect for every future meal—just like your favorite wireless headphones.
Step 2
Scan.
Simply aim the built-in camera at your plate or a barcode and click. In seconds, BiteQ instantly identifies your meal against a database of 2.3 million foods. No typing, no searching—just effortless recognition.
Step 3
Eat.
Enjoy your meal exactly as you normally would. The sensors passively capture your bite volume, pace, and rhythm entirely in the background. When you're finished, a single click of the button ends the session.

What's the difference between the waitlist and the $49 Early Access?
The waitlist is free and gets you in line to be invited as spots open. The Early Access guarantees you a Beta spot and comes with additional benefits, including lifetime premium access to clinical analytics in the app.
What do I get for $49 Early Access?
A guaranteed beta spot, which includes a BiteQ unit, a charging cable, full-feature access to the Android and iOS app, and access to the dashboard. You also get early access ahead of general availability, a direct line to the team through a private group and monthly call to share your feedback and help shape the future of the product.
Why charge anything if it's refundable?
It tells us you're serious, which helps us plan the devices and appropriate level of support during the Beta. It's a reservation, not a fee.
When does the beta start?
Beta units ship early December 2026. Reserved members are notified first and get onboarding details before kickoff.
Is the $49 really fully refundable?
Yes. Email us at support@biteq.ai, and we'll refund the full amount before beta kickoff or within 14 days of receiving your product. No questions asked. Your $49 will be returned to your original payment method.
What happens after the 14-day refund window?
The refund window closes 14 days after you receive your unit. You stay a full beta member with everything included, and you can credit the $49 you paid towards the commercial unit once it's available in Q1 2027.
What will I need to do as a Beta member?
Use BiteQ as part of your normal meals for at least 5 weeks, and share feedback through short check-ins and surveys on a weekly basis. We don't expect these check-ins/surveys to take more than 15 minutes a week.
Will the $49 be applied to my purchase later?
Yes, as a credit toward your purchase of commercial units once it's available in Q1 2027.
What happens when the Beta ends?
Once the Beta period ends, you can keep the device and continue using it. You will have access to the BiteQ app and dashboard. We'll confirm the details with you before the Beta closes. If you keep it, you can credit the $49 you paid towards the commercial unit once it's available in Q1 2027. If you chose to return the device to us at the end of the Beta, we will refund the $49 to you.
What happens to my data?
We collect eating-behavior data from the product to improve it. Your data is not sold. You can refer to our Privacy Policy.
What if I don't get a spot or the Beta fills up?
The Beta spots are limited, and reservations close once those spots are filled. If we can't offer you a spot, you receive a full refund automatically.
How do I request a refund?
Email support@biteq.ai. Refunds go back to your original payment method in 5-7 business days.
What if I break or damage my unit during the beta?
Contact us at support@biteq.ai and tell us what happened. Whether we can help depends on the type of damage, so we'll first look at whether the unit can be repaired.
What if my unit stops working and I didn't damage it?
Contact us at support@biteq.ai; we'll repair or replace it. If we can't, you'll receive a full refund, as described above.

You receive lifetime, subscription-free access to our complete clinical dashboard and app. Additionally, you will get exclusive early access to all future software updates and feature releases as long as you remain a BiteQ user.
What does direct Engineeing Access mean?
As an Early Access member, you aren't just testing BiteQ you are helping build it. You will bypass standard customer service and have a direct feedback loop with our Dallas-based R&D and engineering teams.
