BiteQ smart spoon and forkBiteQ smart spoon and fork

We're building the utensil that finally measures what people actually eat.

BiteQ makes an AI-powered smart spoon and fork that measures calories, nutrients and eating behavior automatically. Designed in the USA.

Why did BiteQ build a sensor-based utensil?

Every widely used method of tracking what people eat, food diaries, logging apps, dietary recall interviews, shares the same weak point: it depends on a person remembering and reporting a meal after it's already happened. That dependency is the reason so much nutrition tracking gets abandoned within weeks, and it's the reason the resulting data is often thinner than anyone would like.

We started BiteQ because solving that problem properly has always required a sensor at the point of eating, not a better app for typing things in afterward. The idea began in 2021 under the name Spoonified, on a piece of paper, born out of the founder's own struggle to manage his health and follow complicated diet plans. Today, that idea is a sensor: a spoon and fork with a load cell, a food-recognition camera, and a motion sensor built into the handle, measuring calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, and eating pace automatically, on every bite.

The utensil is the product people hold. The data and the AI built on top of it, the on-demand nutrition advisor, the behavior-pattern insights, are what we think the company is actually building toward.

What stage is BiteQ at?

BiteQ is in closed beta, open first to our Founding Members. The utensil is our own design, created in Dallas, Texas from a blank sheet, not adapted from an existing tracker. Its form is patent-pending, shaped by research into how people actually eat and review by design experts.

We're are now enrolling our closed beta cohort with spots for both individuals and organizations. Reserving a spot gets you a guaranteed place in the beta, early access, a direct line to our team, and a vote on what we build next.

Is BiteQ a medical device?

No. BiteQ is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or manage any medical condition. It measures eating behavior and nutrient intake so a person, or their care team, has better information to work with; decisions about diagnosis or treatment stay with a qualified clinician. See how that measured data plays out for care settings on our for business page, or how it compares to logging meals by hand on our compare page.

Meet our team.

We’re a team building simpler, smarter ways to make healthy eating easier to sustain.
